Abstract

We’re looking for a composite expert who has touched on composite R&D, manufacturing and quality.

The main mission will be bike products development (frames, forks, handlebars) with a focus on design to manufacture (DFM).

The secondary mission will be to help with quality management with the suppliers (process audit, product control, identification of process weaknesses).

The key metric of success for this job is that the products successfully go from CAD design to mass production by taking into account composite constraints and manufacturing capacibilities of the suppliers.

Missions

Contribute to bike frames & components R&D and industrialization

Based on an expertise in composites, help the bike R&D team to make the right choices and bring to the market a bike at the right level of performance, price, quality.

Secondary mission – help on audit and quality process improvements with the suppliers

Under the supervision of the head of quality, get information on supplier’s quality process to report it to the head of quality. The goal is to make sure processes are adapted to the expectations of Look.

Main activities

· Participate to the bike and components design to ensure that we can reach the expected performance with the composites (stiffness, resistance to impact, …)

· Participate to industrialization choices with the supplier to ensure technical choices are in agreement with expected performance (fiber type, mandrel type, layup process, bonding areas…)

· Oversee the industrialization of new parts at the suppliers factories

· Watch technological developments in composites and propose new materials/methods to Look/suppliers

· Audit and understand suppliers : industrial setup, quality process, composite technology

· Understand and communicate shortcomings of suppliers & consequences on our products

Desired experience

More than 10 years of experience in composite engineering or manufacturing.

Strong knowledge of bike frame manufacturers processes (prior experience at a frame manufacturer desired)

Desired academic background

· Engineering degree

· Specialization in composites

Skills :

Technical skills

Excellent technical knowledge in composite materials and their application

Experience in using CAD and FEA/simulation software, ideally for composite applications

Good level of English

Ability to analyse, synthesize, report

Soft skills

Ability to think outside the box and innovate

Good interpersonal skills (with team and suppliers)
